The Prince George’s County Register of Wills is open to the public. The New Estates Division is only accepting walk-ins as appointments are not being scheduled.
The Auditing Division, however, is by appointment only. Please call (301) 780-7819 to schedule an appointment.

Filings cannot be accepted by fax or email. Filings can be mailed or dropped off onsite. A drop off box is also available and located at the Commissioner's Entrance of the Courthouse. Please call our office for assistance before visiting the courthouse.

Cereta A. Lee was elected as the Register of Wills on November 7, 2006, and was re-elected for a fifth term in July 2022. Mrs. Lee began her term by making history in Prince George’s County by becoming the first African-American to hold the position of Register of Wills. Mrs. Lee also receives praise for her ability as a manager. She earned her Business Administration Degree from Strayer University, and retired after 31 years as a senior Verizon Manager. She also served as the Executive Assistant to Prince George’s County Sheriff Michael Jackson. Mrs. Lee has resided in Prince George’s County for over 40 years. Mrs. Lee has a very strong history within the community, and she is a member of various civic and political organizations such as the Maryland Register of Wills Association, Glenn Dale Citizens Association, Maryland Association of Judges of the Orphans Court, The Kiwanis Club of Mitchellville and Member of the First Baptist Church of Highland Park. Mrs. Lee is always available to speak to community groups about issues relating to her position as Register of Wills. The office is happy to provide brochures, answer questions, and assist the public in the administration of estates.
